Placing a newborn in those iconic poses—like the froggy pose, bum-up pose, or side-lying curl—requires more than just a good camera and soft lighting. It takes thoughtful posing and gentle support. Our bean-shaped posing pillows, specially designed for newborn photography, offer the perfect solution for both beginners and experienced photographers.
Why Choose Bean-Shaped Posing Pillows?
These versatile pillows help create natural and safe poses by supporting the baby's head, limbs, or entire body without being visible in the final photo. Their ergonomic shape allows you to achieve better angles, lift or support delicate parts like elbows or feet, and add comfort to every setup.

We've collaborated with professional newborn photographers who captured our pillows in use during real sessions. Below are some examples of how they bring structure and lift to your compositions.

In this setup, the big pillow provides the main support for the baby’s body, especially under the shoulders and torso, helping to maintain a natural, curled position. Under the baby’s head, there’s a smaller pillow placed just beneath the chin to gently lift and support the head without strain. Additionally, another small pillow is tucked under the baby’s bum to slightly elevate the lower body and complete the pose. Together, these supports help keep the baby comfortably positioned and stable, making it easier to achieve a relaxed and peaceful look in the photos.
In this image, the baby is posed in the classic froggy pose, with the head gently resting in the hands. The large posing pillow is placed underneath to provide support for the baby’s upper arms. This helps lift and stabilize the chest area, making it easier to maintain the pose safely and comfortably. Proper support is essential in this setup to ensure the baby is relaxed and secure while allowing the photographer to capture that beautifully balanced, peaceful look.
Although not the main focus of this post, it's important to mention that the froggy pose should only be performed by professional newborn photographers. It is always created as a composite image in Photoshop, combining two safely captured shots—one where the baby’s head is supported, and one where the hands are in position. This ensures the baby is never left unsupported and always safe during the session.
Above are two more examples of how posing pillows can be used to support the baby during a session. In the first setup, the baby is wrapped, and the pillow is placed under the head to provide gentle elevation and comfort. In the second, the baby is in a tummy pose with the head resting on the arms, which are supported by the pillow. These setups help keep the baby stable and relaxed while achieving a natural, serene look in the final image
No matter the pose or setup, having the right support makes all the difference—our posing pillows are designed to help you create safe, beautiful images with confidence and ease.
